FiberLync is an internet service provider owned and operated by Orange County Broadband Authority to serve residents and businesses in the unserved and underserved areas of Orange County, Virginia.

Because we respect its subscribers and understand that they are concerned about privacy, we have instituted policies intended to ensure that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner.

This policy is designed to assist you in understanding how we collect, use, and safeguard the personal information you provide to us and to assist you in making informed decisions when using our site and our products and services. This policy will be continuously assessed against new technologies, business practices, and our subscriber needs.

What information do we collect and why we collect it?

If you order a product, for example, the information is used to register your license and rights, if any, to technical support, upgrade discounts, or other benefits that may be made available to registered users. FiberLync will also use the information provided in our effort to keep you informed about product upgrades, special offers, and other products and services offered by FiberLync.
How we protect your data?
When you send confidential personal credit card information to us on our website, secure server software, which we have licensed, encrypts all information you input before it is delivered to us. The information is scrambled en route and decoded once it reaches our web servers. FiberLync does not house or maintain any personal credit card data, which is done primarily through payment processors and hosted database servers. Other e-mail that you send us may not be secure unless we advise you that security measures will be in place prior to your transmitting the information. For that reason, we ask that you do not send confidential information such as social security or account numbers to us through an unsecured e-mail.

We utilize encryption/security software to safeguard the confidentiality of personal information we collect from unauthorized access or disclosure and accidental loss, alteration, or destruction. Third party processors tokenize stored payment information to keep data secure.

Periodically, our operations and business practices are reviewed for compliance with policies and procedures governing security, confidentiality, and quality of our information. FiberLync and its financial affiliates are all PCI compliant.

We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our website nor the information or content contained therein. Often links to other websites are provided solely as pointers to information on topics that may be useful or of interest to the users of our website. What information received from third parties?
We obtain address information about you from third party sources, such as the US Postal Service and other GIS map databases, to verify your address so we can process your order and to prevent fraud. If you provide us personal information about others, or if others give us your information, we will only use that information for the specific reason for which it was provided to us.
Sharing information with affiliates
We do not currently host advertising for outside companies on our website. However, we may decide sometime in the future to display notices or advertisements from outside companies on our website. In that event, we will take commercially reasonable measures to select product or service providers that is responsible and provide privacy protections to their customers. However, we cannot make any representations about the practices and policies of these companies, and we do not warrant their products or services.
Access to Internet Services
Like most Internet service providers, FiberLync automatically collect certain general information concerning your use, such as the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses assigned (an identifier assigned to your computer while online), bandwidth used, system and connection performance, browsers used, dates and times of access, and Internet resource requests, including requests to access Web pages. This type of information is retained for about six months. We do not store online messages sent and received unless left in your FiberLync Internet account file. Since we cannot control websites or Internet services provided by third parties, we recommend that you review the terms of service and privacy policies of those websites and services.
Record Retention
FiberLync may retain personal customer information in its regular business records as long as you are a customer or until no longer needed for business, tax or legal purposes.
