FiberLync was disappointed by the state's decision to not award our grant application through the Virginia Telecommunication Initiative. While we understand the decision to primarily fund proposals that will utilize less expensive infrastructure, FiberLync stands behind its position that underground fiber is the most reliable and in the long term the least expensive construction method.
While we regret the loss of funds that would have allowed us to accelerate the expansion of the existing fiber network, FiberLync's plan going forward is to continue construction as outlined in the original baseline plans. The primary funding source will be revenues from FiberLync’s ongoing operations that can be reinvested in network expansion projects.
FiberLync will also continue to seek other funding opportunities through Federal and State programs, and we remain fully committed to providing broadband connectivity to all Orange County homes and businesses.
